BI Rate May Be Maintained

According to Martowardojo, it is believed that maintaining the BI Rate can control inflation taking into account the current situation. It will help investors entrust investment in Indonesia and still see the country as an attractive investment spot.

"Therefore, we see if it will be fine if the rate is maintained. Let everything be settled," said Martowardojo.

Earlier, Bank Indonesia signaled that it will cut the BI Rate. In addition, the inflation rate in November has deeply decreased by 0.12 percent compared to October with 0.45 percent.

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Miranda S Goeltom said that as commodities' prices and inflation rate are tumbling, it will be easy for the central bank to cut the BI Rate. "It can be this month, or next month. It is inevitable. It awaits the perfect timing. We must be cautious and certain because it will aim at long-term stability," said Miranda on Wednesday, Dec 3.

The falling inflation rate, she said, will enable BI to cut the BI Rate in time so that the economy will be stimulated.
