Yudhoyono-Kalla Performance Improved

VIVAnews - Indonesian Survey Agency (LSI) conducted a nation-wide survey from 26 October to 5 November 2008. With a total sample of 2,197 respondents, the survey has an accuracy level of 95 percent. Respondents for this survey are Indonesian citizens who are eligible to vote, which means that all respondents are 17 years old or more, or are already married at the time of the survey. The respondents were interviewed using the Multistage Random Sampling Method.  

The majority of respondents believed that the performance of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Jusuf Kalla in November 2008 has improved. Both score 62.5 percent and 54 percent respectively.

The key indicators for performance improvement include poverty and unemployment reductions (37 and 30 percent respectively), solving local conflict (61 percent), and handling corruption (63 percent).

Moreover, the government’s performance in education and healthcare sectors also improved, from 7 and 10 percent respectively in September, to 16 and 17 percent in November respectively.  

Around 81 percent of respondents feel that the government has already done an excellent job in limiting the impact of the global crisis. And 83 percent of them feel that the government had already taken the right policy.

The people’s attitudes toward the government’s social programs are also positive: Direct Cash Assistance program (BLT), 78 percent, Education Operational Aid (BOS) program, 92 percent, and National Program for Community Empowerment (PNPM), 58 percent. Around 53 percent of respondents are recipients of the BLT program, 92 percent are recipients of BOS program, and around 48 percent are the receiver of PNPM program.
