Nine Oil Fields to Start Producing in 2009

VIVAnews - Nine oil and gas fields will start producing by 2009. Head of Upstream Oil and Gas Regulator (BP Migas) Raden Priyono said that the fields include Tangguh, Block A, Anggor, Sabak, Duri Area 11, Karand Dewa, Sumur Prabumenang, Tasim and Karang Enggal.

The blocks are expected to be able to support oil production of 5,300 barrels per day (bpd) and 521 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). "Total production will amount to 98 thousand barrels of oil equivalent (BOE)," said Priyono in a press conference on Tuesday, Dec 23.

During the year, the number of production sharing contract in work areas has increased by 41 contracts: 34 contracts of production sharing contract and seven contracts of coal methane gas. In addition, the work areas until end of 2008 will amount to 64, while exploration work areas will be 139, bringing to a total of 203 work areas.
