Gov't to Calculate and Plan Royalty Payments

VIVAnews - The government is preparing royalty payment proposals regarding those that have not been paid by coal industries. The proposals include gross calculation and set off mechanism.

"Concerning gross calculation, we will calculate liabilities that both they and the government must repay. As for set off mechanism, the government only receives the net calculation," said Director General of State Treasury Hadiyanto on Monday, Jan 19.

Hadiyanto said that six troubled coal companies have yet to pay royalties to the government. However, he seemed reluctant to reveal the amount of royalties that have been paid to the government. "BPKP (Finance and Development Supervisory Agency) has calculated the amount but I forgot the exact amount," he said.

The detailed calculation will be examined by an internal team from the Department of Finance: regarding Value Added Tax and coal royalties.

Finance Minister, Directorate General of Taxes and Energy, and Mineral Resources Minister will be involved in the calculation.

Earlier, six coal companies were banned in 2008 due to royalty back payment. The companies are: PT Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Arutmin Indonesia, PT Adaro, PT Berau Coal, PT Libra Intiwood and PT Citra Dwipa Finance.
