Dutch State Secretary Visits Aceh

VIVAnews - Dutch State Secretary for Transport, Public Works and Water Management Tineke Huizinga-Heringa visits Indonesia today, Jan 19. 

The state secretary is escorted by the executives of Regional Government and leaders of Water Resources Council. 

A press release from the Embassy of Kingdom of the Netherlands informed on Monday, Jan 19, that Tineke Huizinga will look at various projects in Banda Aceh concerning coastal defense, flood management in cities, drinking water, sanitation and weather change. 

The Dutch Ministry of Transportation and Water Management also takes part in the renovation of Banda Aceh harbor. The state secretary will also attend a signing of long-term partnership contract between Aceh water company and the Netherlands.

In addition to visiting Banda Aceh, the Dutch state secretary will also grant two dredger vessels from the Dutch government for reducing flood risk during rainy seasons.

In Jakarta, the state secretary will also visit Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to witness a partnership agreement between PusAir (Bandung, West Java) with Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) and Deltares (the Netherlands).

The partnership improved significantly after the tsunami battered Aceh in 2004 and great flood hit Jakarta in 2007.
